After a pleasant ferry trip across azure waters and past lush islands, we arrived on Vis in the small town with the same name.
We walked around randomly for a while until a man who did not speak English offered us a room. I admit I was suspicious at first but it turned out to be alright. Dumping our things we headed down to a nearby slipway into the water so I could finally go for a swim. It felt wonderful.

Compared to the mild temperatures and overcast skies of the last two days, today is absolutely blazing hot. We haven’t really done much today except buy some boat tickets and stroll around basking in the sun. At the moment I am sitting on the ferry to Vis, a small island off the coast, waiting for the boat to leave harbor.

Yesterday we took a long distance bus to the coastal town Split. We got some really good views along the way from the bus and I tried to describe it all as a Frozen Moment.
When we got there we found a hotel by just walking around randomly then set about exploring the main attraction: Diocletian’s palace. I tried to take picture but it was hard to show it in a good light so once again I ended up freezing the moment.

Due to time constraints, I have once again been forced to bend (my own, arbitrary) rules for land travel. Leaving home around 10 in the morning, Yini and I took a plane from Copenhagen down to the capital city of Croatia, Zagreb. Since we did not want to rush (and spend our vacation stressed out) we decided to stay here for the night.

From Hualien to our goal in Yilan it was only a day of driving. We could easily have gone to Taroko gorge, arguably one of the most beautiful parts of the entire island with its rivers sheer cliff faces. However, both me and Yini have been there fairly recently so we opted against it.
Instead we kept driving along the coastal road which turns out to be one of the most beautiful stretches of tarmac in the country with sheer cliff faces rivaling those of Taroko, sloping down into turquoise water.

We’ve done so many things today it’s hard to summarize it all without missing anything. From Taidong we drove to Hualien, a distance of some 160 kilometers which should take no more than three hours or so. However, it took us all day thanks to lots of random tourism. Today started with a short visit to a nearby lagoon that was said to be worth while. Since many of the attractions were closed down for repair there was not as much to see as I hoped. We did however take a short boat tour which turned out to be very cool. Out in the middle of the lagoon is a small island, entirely made of oyster shells. Apparently fishermen have been dumping them there for thirty years which has formed a small island. For a while now, me and my girlfriend have been planning a small adventure and today, having landed in Taiwan just yesterday, we finally got on the way. The plan is simple: drive my scooter from the south of the island, north along the east coast and stop along the way at interesting places; a kind of random sightseeing.

We have been lacking an internet connections lately but now we are back in Sweden so its time for one last post about our north European trip.
Coming back from the draisines, we slept one night in Reettas parent’s house then got picked up by Reettas sister Erika who drove us to Turku where we added Erikas husband to the gang and started on a small road trip. We drove to the small town of Naantali, where the Mumin live, for lunch then moved on to the island of Kustavi where we found a small camp site for the night.
