Going to Kinmen With a Baby

Ever since I moved to Taiwan, my wife and I have slowly been working on visiting all of Taiwan’s outlying islands. So far we’ve been to Green Island, Penghu and Matsu, and last weekend we went to Kinmen. It is a small island just a stone’s throw (well, a rather long stone’s throw) from Mainland China. Given its location there has been a lot of military activity on the island and most of the actual fighting between China and Taiwan took place here in the 1950’s. Before it became militarized, Kinmen was home to a fair amount of merchants who … Read the rest

Pandemic Tourism in Baden-Württemberg

I’m here in Germany for business reasons but me and my colleagues still get the weekends off like normal, so we are able to go out sightseeing. There are of course some limitations due to Covid19, but so far they are comparatively mild and we’ve been able to visit a bunch of different tourist attractions. Some of them are really worth seeing so I thought I would share them here.

The hotel is in another town not too far away from Chiusi but there are several picturesque little towns in the area so we stopped by a place called Pienza and strolled around there for an hour or so before going to … Read the rest

Showing Kullaberg

On Wednesday me and my wife commendeered my parent’s car and took her parents out out for a drive, showing  the most famous spots on the Kullaberg peninsula.

We started with the old farmhouse Himmelstorp up on the hill in the beach wood forest. There is a cafe there which is normally full of hikers stopping by for ice cream but now everything was closed. The parents-in-law liked it a lot all the same.

We continued out to the tip of the peninsula and the lighthouse. The landscape there is spectacular and we had some excellent weather, the four of … Read the rest

Taking the inlaws to Sweden

This summer, me and my wife decided we should bring her parents to Sweden to let them see a bit of my country. Unlike my parents they do not speak any English and are not used to independent travel, so me and the wife will spend a lot of time guiding them.

We took off late on Sunday evening, but due to a traffic jam at the airport we were delayed and missed our connecting flight. After a long wait in the transfer hall of Amsterdam airport we finally arrived in Arild on Monday evening, tired but happy.

On Tuesday … Read the rest
