Meihouman waterfall 2:36 pm

It’s the type of waterfall you might read about in an adventure novel or see in an Indiana Jones movie; the stream goes tumbling over the edge some twenty or thirty meters above the valley, twisting and turning in the air then hitting a large rock at the bottom, sending plumes of spray high into the air. The sound is like that of torrential rain or a faucet opened at maximum, the rush as the water falls through the air and the deep booming when it hits the bottom. The day is still yet here at the fall the rush … Read the rest

Road 62 outside Preah Vihear, 5:45 pm

The surrounding landscape is not of much interest, just the outskirts of a small town, a few houses and the odd restaurant giving way to low forests and scrub lands. The sky however is worth paying attention to and we are moving far too fast to take a photograph. In front and to the right, the sky is ablaze with two horizontal bands of cloud  glowing in yellow and orange that hang just above the undulating profile of distant hills. To the left are thin veils of clouds colored a brilliant pink bordering on orange against the pale blue sky, … Read the rest

Ă–stlibacken 10:07 am

The lateness of the winter sunrise means that even I am able to witness its glory. Where the valley opens up in the east, the dawn has broken through the ash grey clouds overhead with gusto and vibrance. Once again i find myself, phone in hand, my fingers tapping out a description, for no other reason then my mind putting … Read the rest

Stenbron Arild, 10:46 pm

The sky has been painted in a lustrous gradient from dark blue above my head seamlessly changing to a lighter blue then yellow and finally pink bordering on orange. Grey clouds sweep across the pink like heavy brush strokes, turning to solid at the horizon. I know there is no land there but the cliffs are there no less. Right below the horizon a gleaming streak of yellowish white from left to right, like the trail of some fast-moving thing. The water is otherwise a greyish blue, ever so slightly tinted in yellow and pink where it mirrors the sky. … Read the rest

Zhudong market 8:07 pm

I am sitting on a stone wall, dangling my feet over a red bricked square, my girl is by my side and I have a cold drink in my hand. I rest my hand on her leg and gaze up at the full moon shining brightly behind a thin veil of clouds. It is strange how such a simple thing can be so beautiful. My girl snuggles up to me in the surprisingly cool air and I feel the smooth skin of her thigh against my palm. I sit here and feel absolutely content, the perfect ending to a perfect … Read the rest
